Promoting Competitiveness and Sustainability in the Caynarachi Heart of Palm Value Chain

This document details a key intervention in the Caynarachi – Yurimaguas productive corridor to boost the sustainable palmito value chain, overcoming challenges such as post-harvest losses and limited traceability.

The project introduces a strong focus on technological innovation and the application of good practices with a regenerative approach. Key actions include establishing three seed gardens and six bio-input production centers.

Technological advancements include implementing six hydration modules in the field collection centers and a prototype ozonification system in the processing plant. Additionally, 200 tons of palmito biomass will be transformed into biochar and liquid carbon for soil improvement.

The fundamental goal is to improve access to international markets that value sustainable production. The initiative seeks the georeferencing of 300 plots to obtain zero deforestation certification, ensuring a substantial increase in production, export value, and income for the 450 beneficiary producers. The total budget for this initiative is USD 716,671
