Promoting the competitiveness and sustainability of the value chain of the palm in Caynarachi

This paper presents a project focused on improving the profitability and competitiveness of the value chain of the palm sustainable. The aim is to benefit directly to 450 small palmicultores in the corridor Caynarachi – Yurimaguas, addressing challenges such as low productivity and the risk of pressure on the forests

The project operates in the Corridor Caynarachi – Yurimaguas, in San Martín, looking for the benefit of 450 producers, including members of the Cooperative APROPAL and suppliers of Caynarachi SA

Your the central objective is to improve the profitability and the competitiveness of the value chain of the palm sustainable. Addresses issues such as waste, post-harvest, the low traceability and the weak joint public-private.

Among the most outstanding results are expected to a 15% increase in production of stems of palm, thanks to the implementation of good agricultural practices regenerative and technical assistance. It is projected 25% increase in the volume and value of exports and a improvement of 40 % in income per hectare for the producers.

The key actions include the creation of 3 gardens, seedlings and 6 production facilities in bioinsumos. In innovation, it includes the implementation of 6 modules of hydration and the transformation of 200 tonnes of biomass into biochar and liquid carbon. In addition, it seeks to ensure the sustainability by using georeferencing of 300 plots with certification of zero deforestation, which facilitates the joint with clients who value sustainable production systems. The project will create or retain 676 jobs in the value chain
