Since 2018, Mecanismos de Desarrollo Alternos (MDA) has served as the national coordination entity for the GCF Task Force in Peru. This network is the world’s largest subnational collaboration, bringing together 45 states and provinces committed to the protection of tropical forests.
Its mission is to reduce emissions from deforestation and promote rural development pathways that keep forests standing. The network supports subnational leadership and public policy innovation by connecting territorial actors with processes that advance environmental governance, green finance, and the security of territorial rights for Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
Through strategic partnerships with public and private sector actors, the GCF Task Force creates pathways for effective action at the subnational, national, and international levels, with the aim of reducing deforestation and strengthening sustainable economic development.
